Infinix Hot 9 and Hot 9 Pro smartphone launched in India: Don't just buy it! 13

Infinix Hot 9 and Infinix Hot 9 Pro have launched in India as the latest smartphone offerings from the Transsion company for their Infinix Hot lineup.

Since the world went into hibernation, smartphone company’s have been on a virtual announcement spree with the launch of many of their already due releases.

Infinix Hot 9 specifications and price in Nigeria

Infinix never to be left out, dishes out another ‘magic’ out of the box but we are left wondering, is this new release – the Hot 9 series worth upgrading to or are we better off HODL our precious Hot 8 and instead staging a peace protest against the Transsion-owned company?

Here’s three credible reasons why you shouldn’t consider the Infinix Hot 9 or better still have a rethink before placing a new smartphone order anytime soon.

1. Lack of Updates for Old Devices

Just couple months ago, we were basking in the glory that is the Infinix Hot 8 and it’s cool specifications now we have another dilemma to contend with.

No doubt the amazement and glamour that comes with the launch of new devices (iPhone users kr) but do infinix really think about retaining their old users at all?

Which better way to do that than pushing out updates for their old devices?

Many OEMs no doubt have a way they carry this out with many releasing prioritising timely updates for the newest devices to the old one.

But in the case of Infinix, we never get to see any really!

If they are going to arrest the slide and remain in the competition that is the Nigeria smartphone market, they’ll sure have to resolve this issue soon.

2. Identical Specifications

Infinix Hot 9 features and specifications

This also if not mistaken has become a norm already in the Nigerian market with OEMs releasing device that pack almost if not same specs at different distance price ranges.

The Infinix Hot 8 wasn’t an exception and we look to having the same scenario playing out in the Hot 9 series.

The two Infinix phones recently launched in India comes with almost identical specifications, apart from slight differences in the rear camera setup.

The Infinix Hot 9 Pro has a 48-megapixel main camera at the back and supports Quad-LED flash, while the Infinix Hot 9 has a 13-megapixel main camera with triple LED flash support.

Also, both the Hot 9 and the Hot 9 Pro include a hole-punch display design, and a Helio P22 octa-core processor paired with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU and 4GB of RAM.

The Infinix Hot 9 and Infinix Hot 9 Pro support dual-SIM slots (Nano + Nano), and run on Android 10 with the custom Infinix XOS 6.0 ontop. The two phones feature a 6.6-inch HD+ (720×1600 pixels) hole-punch LCD IPS display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 90.5 percent screen-to-body-ratio.

Moving on to the camera department, the Infinix Hot 9 Pro and Infinix Hot 9 come with a vertically alligned quad camera setup a the back. The Infinix Hot 9 Pro includes a 48-megapixel main camera with quad LED-FLASH attached to the 13-megapixel main and triple flash shooter on the base Hot 9 device.

Up front, ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL for the two smartphones packing a 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash support.

On Post-Covid terms, the above specs don’t just seem enough for brand that prides itself in making quality devices and not just gimmicks.

3. Functionality over Gimmicks

Another smartphone fail that just doesn’t seem to be over emphasized in relation to Transsion devices.

Early this year, Tecno, another company under Transsion announced the under-screen fingerprint sensor integration to its Phantom newest devices but it just didn’t come of with the public.

It was slow, never just efficient and ultimately a complete fail. This is a feature that’s almost still at the Beta integration stage for flagship smartphone producers.

Of cos the sky is wide enough for a breakthrough release but in that case, it should have been back to be drawing board again!

Much jest and ridicule has been made of iTel, another company under Transsion prioritising long-lasting batteries for their smartphones but that just should be the norm for Infinix Mobility.

Who dare budgets for a Helio P22 processor powered device in 2020?

PS: The Infinix Hot 9 smartphone series is still an amazing device but unless you can’t just see enough reasons to resist hitting the mall to get a unit, here’s the price and availability in Nigeria.

Sleek design but should you buy it? Infinix Note 7 - Full specs, Features & Cost in Nigeria 14

Chinese conglomerate Transsion Holdings enjoys a moderate foothold in Nigeria’s mobile phone market alongside its Itel and Tecno brands, and also has one of the country’s top artists in an ambassadorship role. With well received range of devices to it’s name which the S, Hot and Note series are all huge representatives.

Now, the company’s Infinix brand has launched the successor to its Note budget smartphone – the Infinix Note 7 and Note 7 Lite. Both falling within the budget smartphone segment, with features that are intended to match the current competition.

Infinix Note 7 Lite specs

The infinix Note series smartphone has no doubt always captured the interest of the public especially with it’s sleek design build and camera system but with the many devices churn out lately were left wondering if the new Note 7 is really a necessary upgrade now or are we left paying for yet another crap?

Infinix Note 7 Specifications and Features

The smartphone design comes quite impressive with it’s sleek build and amazing screen-to-body ratio which means we get less bezels and just that punch hole front camera sitting all the way to the top left.

Infinix Note 7 smartphone has a 6.95 inches IPS LCD display. It measures 173.4 mm x 79 mm x 8.8 mm and weighs . The screen has a resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels and 258 ppi pixel density.

But then why is all this beauty being enclosed in an extreme plastic body?

The fact Infinix continues making smartphones with plastic components and tagging them all up with huge market price doesn’t bode well for the Nigerian market going forward especially with major competitors like Xiaomi lurking in the background.

Again, that’s your call to make there.

Infinix Note 7 smartphone runs on Android v10 (Q) operating system with Infinix 6.0 custom skin slapped ontop. The device is powered by Octa core (2 GHz, Dual core, Cortex A75 + 1.7 GHz, Hexa Core, Cortex A55) processor and runs on the MediaTek Helio G70 Chipset and Mali-G52 2EEMC2 GPU.

On camera department, infinix Note 7 users get a quad camera that consists of 48 MP (wide) + 2 MP (macro) + 2 MP (depth) + 2 MP (dedicated video camera) with features like Fixed Focus, Quad-LED flash, panorama,HDR, etc. The front camera consist of a 16 MP camera(wide).

The Infinix Note 7 smartphone is fueled with a non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery + Fast charging 18W. It has 4 GB and 6 GB as RAM options and a 64 GB or 128 GB available internal storage.

You’re assured never to run out of juice whilst you multitask on this amazing device right?

The device is integrated with a loudspeaker with dual speakers and a 3.5mm jack. Connectivity features include; Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with A-GPS, Radio, Volte and USB.The phone handles Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by).

Available sensors include Fingerprint (side-mounted), accelerometer, proximity, and compass.

Infinix Note 7 price & availability in Nigeria

Infinix Note 7 specs, price in Nigeria

The infinix Note 7 device was launched in April in the Nigerian market and is therefore available for order from any of their major stores – Xspark for N78,000.

There’s also a Note 7 Lite version which appears to be a toned din version of the base device.

The available color options are Bolivia Blue, Aether Black and Forest Green.

Should you buy it?

The Infinix Note 5 was a huge success and the Note 7 unarguably promises even more with suspicions of a Coning Gorilla glass, but from a mid-range user perspective it is more stringent they start prioritizing function over fancy.

Having a mid-range device with plastic components is no big deal at least Samsung intentionally do that on their A-series but then you have to look at the competition.

Also, the world don’t need to hit the caves for protection over Covid-19 before Transsion starts making a smartphone with a Snapdragon SOc.

Of course, these are tiny details but then, the Infinix Note 7 device promises a great mid-range experience especially with that Huawei Mate 30-esque camera arrangement. Hehehe
