So a couple of people have asked me how they can browse free on MTN and today someone just sent me Hammer VPN settings for MTN, so here’s how it works. It’s very similar to the Combo VPN setting I posted about a few hours ago but the limit is higher.
Basically, the VPN has tons of servers to choose from and you can even get unlimited data or in a few cases, you’ll be limited to a particular data cap.
Hammer VPN Settings For MTN – How It Works
Like all VPN services, Hammer VPN has both a free and paid server plans. The free server is capped at 100MB per day and immediately that 100MB is finished you can easily switch to another free server and connect again. You get 14 free servers per day which is equivalent to 1.4GB.
Hammer VPN Settings For MTN – How To Configure
In order to use Hammer VPN on your MTN device here’s what you need to do. Carefully follow the instructions below
- MTN 4G or 3G sim without active data
- Default MTN APN settings
- Hammer VPN APK – Download Here
- Username: ntg1234
- Password: leave it at the default (do not edit it)
- Server: Choose any free server
- Use this as the ports to the two boxes
The first box is 8080 and the second box is 9201. Select UDP too and then click on connect.
It may take about 10 -30 seconds for the VPN to establish a connection based on how strong the network is at your location before finally getting connected. Once it gets connected, launch your browser and start browsing, surfing the web and stream any video you want.
Hammer VPN Settings For MTN – How To Bypass 100MB Limit
Of course, after you have connected to a server, there’s no way you won’t exhaust the daily 100mb data limit on the server, So here is an easy way you can use to bypass its limit. You can either use your phone file manager for this or ES File Explorer
- Simply download the ES Explorer app and launch the app.
- Select “SHOW HIDDEN FILES“ from the menu, go to your INTERNAL STORAGE (SD CARD) folder and then tap on “ANDROID” folder and you will see all hidden files on it.
- Search for any file that is stored as “playstor.srf.h“. Open the file using the built-in Es Text Editor.
- Once you are done with that step, you will see a number in this format 10-78214644. All you are required to change are the first two numbers 10 which is your today’s date to tomorrow’s date 11.
- Then SAVE your edit.
Relaunch the Hammer VPN App and reconnect. It will connect instantly.
MTN Bumps its Night Plan Data limit, fair 2GB usage now applies
MTN Nigeria has again reviewed its data plan offerings for about the infinite time this year but this time it is all about their night plan subscription.
Having caused a stir earlier in the year with the reduction in the amount of browsing data it offers subscribers; from a NGN25 charge for 500MB to half of that; they seem to be doing so again but all for the good reasons this time. This resulted in users using multiple SIM cards to get through a single night subscription.
However, the new change means users can now accumulate and use a maximum of 2GB for the night without switching SIMs anymore. Before you can access all the crippled night plan though you have to be not only an MTN subscriber but also on their MTN pulse plan.
No stress talks just follow the image below and you’re in
PS: The above step will attract a charge if you have moved plan in the last 30 days, say from BetaTalk to PulseThat been said,
How to Subscribe to MTN 2GB Night Plan Data
MTN Pulse nightlife plan as we all know offers some pretty decent data plan which are
500MB for N50 and 250MB for N25.Some of the changes to the new review includes a change to the night plan timing.
Unlike the old timing which ensures you get to the use the data from 12:00AM to 5:00AM each night, MTN new Night Plan can now be activated from 11:00PM and will expire at 6:00PM.Also, subscribers can now use a total of 2GB data every night on the MTN nightlife plan for any MTN SIM registered on MTN pulse.
This means, instead of the single 500MB and 250MB data subscription which can be done twice and four times respectively, you can now subscribe to the 500MB plan four times, which is a total of 2GB for N200, while you can subscribe to the 250MB eight times which will also give a total of 2GB for N200 as well.
To activate and use MTN night plan on MTN pulseStep 1: Dial *406# (Select 1 to migrate to MTN Pulse)
Step 2: After migration, select the 3rd option and chose any subscription of choice
Step 3: To check your data balance, dial *131*4# on your MTN SIM
Step 4: Repeat the entire process above until you amass up to 2GB for the night
MTN e-SIM card Service: What is it? Here’s everything to know as MTN begins its very first trial in West Africa
So, couple days ago MTN announced it is introducing its virtual SIM technology simply called eSim cards in Nigeria which will provide the same functionalities as physical SIM cards while creating ease and eventual solution with handling many physical cards.
With eSim cards now available for mobile, Sim cards have undergone a 360-degree transformation. In this part of the world where telcos have moved from macro sims to micro, and nano sims, eSim cards is the next generation of SIM card evolution.
But many subscribers will be forgiven for not having any clue on the new innovation
We get so many public releases in the world of tech you might actually be swept off your feet ignoring the tiny announcements.
That won’t be the case anymore as we would go through every little facet about the new MTN eSim tech you need to know
What is the MTN e-SIM card tech about?
Basically, the e-SIM card technology represents the next step in the evolution of Subscriber Identity Modules (SIM cards), and designed to deliver unprecedented freedom and flexibility.
Unlike the physical SIMs, the virtual sim is built into the device(smartphone, wearables) and therefore cannot be lost or damaged by the owner. If the mobile device gets lost or damaged however, the user will need to visit an MTN store to have it deactivated.
They also support multiple profiles and allow customers to connect multiple numbers to their e-SIM devices especially if they are frequent travellers who need to use different sim cards in different countries.
This means, no more switching between different network operators, with the MTN e-SIM, you’re good to go.
How MTN e-SIM cards work
First things first, to use MTN eSim cards, it has to be first activated on your phone.
As with every banking app recently, this is a cautious move to limit the occurance of data and finance theft. By ensuing on the device locked in to the e-SIM cards only have access to its functioning.
According to MTN, activation of the MTN eSim has to be done in an MTN store by a customer care agent. The process is done at no cost to the subscriber too.
Once the device is certified compatible with the eSim, an account profile is created for the subscriber and the agents complete the integration process with the user. Once the integration is completed, a customer will find that using the virtual card is basically the same as using the current sim.
However, there’s a new catch right here which is more or less a welcome addition…
While physical sim cards can store up to 200 contacts, MTN has announced that its eSim cards can store more than 200 contacts.
This is pretty much a good move but a case of doing the right thing at the half-right time. While subscribers have resorted long ago to store contacts on their Google accounts, users who feel the need to keep check of how much their data is used against them might find this helpful.
However, current phone numbers cannot be linked to the eSim cards at the moment.
How to activate MTN e-SIM cards on my device?
Second thing after understanding how the new tech thing works is to check for the eligibility of the new tech for your device.
You’ll need to visit any of our MTN stores. Our customer care agents will check your device for eligibility and walk you through the setup process.
As with many network providers and their data offerings these days, virtual sim cards are not available for everyone yet, as only a few phones are currently compatible and can be integrated with it. Only certain brands of Google, Apple and Samsung phones can have eSims integrated into them.
For now, MTN states that the few compatible Google phones are Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. For Apple you have iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. The Samsung S20 series are also compatible with eSim cards.
Talk about prioritising the flagships first…
How the introduction of MTN e-SIM cards could benefit you
Notwithstanding the sophistication of e-SIMs, the onboarding requirements are the same as are required for a physical SIM. Hence, SIM registration in line with existing regulatory prescriptions remains a requirement for activating a device embedded with an e-SIM.
MTN e-SIMs are particularly useful for people who want to manage personal and business lines easily and effectively or want a separate profile for data.
The new technology will also be extremely convenient for frequent travelers and tourists, making it easier for them to opt for and keep a local subscription when visiting Nigeria.
The trial which kicked-off couple days ago will run for one year and is open on a first come first served basis to a limited number of subscribers who own compatible devices.
No doubt MTN is spearheading e-SIM adoption in Nigeria as part of efforts to enable the African digital economy. The feedbacks for the next year will be quite important too moving forward.
