Meet Tecno's Spark 2 And What Happened To Its Headphone Jack - Unboxing And First Impressions

Tecno Mobile released the next smartphone in its Spark lineup a couple of weeks ago and the device is called the Tecno Spark 2. Based on the specifications of the device , It's still a budget smartphone but it comes with features that can easily make it be mistaken for a Flagship device.

The phone comes in a very portable package and you get a 12 months warranty on the phone meaning that you get maintenance services from Carlcare during that period in case of any damage that happens to the device that isn't caused by you.

What's In The Box ?

Opening the box you have the following -

  • Tecno Spark 2 Smartphone
  • USB Cable
  • Plastic Casing
  • USB Adapter
  • Headphones
  • Sim Ejector Tool
  • Boomplay Card
  • Phone Manual
  • 12 Months Warranty Card

The device also comes with a stylish plastic casing and the fingerprint scanner is placed behind the device.

The SIM card and SD card slot is located on the left side of the device. If you are looking to get this device you'll have to cut your sims down to a nano sim as both sim slots support only nano sim cards.

Tecno also cuts down on the bezels , giving us a lightweight device with a premium feel. The volume keys and power button are on the right hand side of  the device.

Now coming to a very important question I believe you will be asking yourself based on the title of this post - What happened to our classic 3.5mm headphone jack ?

Well, Tecno Mobile just like Apple yanked it off from the top of the device.

I know you must be feeling like this guy right now but you shouldn't have to worry , Tecno decided to place it in a position that would make your headphones last longer. Here's where our classic headphone jack is -

It's placed under the device just beside the USB port and the speaker grills. Not a bad move. You may be wondering what the big deal is here but the point is that most headphones tend to spoil faster when placed in your pockets with the headphone jack placed on top. With a headphone jack that is placed at the bottom you can easily place your device in your pocket without bothering about the headphones getting spoilt, I believe this is the future of headphone jacks...well until manufacturers decide to join Apple and yank it off completely.

I'm still reviewing every nook and cranny of the device so expect a full review soon and at this point I drop my pen and sign off.

Keep an eye on this blog for the full review post.

In the meantime you can take a look at the quick rundown of the specifications of this device.
