Check Out Vivo's N200,000 Smartphone With An On-screen Finger Print Scanner

Towards the end of 2017, if you're an ardent follower of tech news, you'd remember that there were rumors about a smartphone by Vivo that actually had a finger print scanner beneath the screen.

Of course we all would have expected that Samsung or Apple would be the first to do so 😏.. But they failed. 😝

Synaptics initially displayed the prototype of the VIVO smartphone at the CES event earlier this month.

Now, after much anticipation and some recent teasers, Vivo X20 Plus UD has been launched in China.

The Vivo X20 Plus UD is just an upgraded variant of the original X20 Plus that was launched in September 2017.

What makes it different from others out there is the under-display fingerprint sensor.

Here's the part I like about this phone - the new sensor is made in such a way it can detect your fingerprint in a few milliseconds and can also work under layers that are up to 1.5mm thick, including the screen protector.

Synaptics is currently working on producing at least 70 million units of its under-display fingerprint sensor this year.

Coming to the specs, it runs on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box and has a 6.43 inch AMOLED display which I'd say is quite large. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC clocked at 2.2Ghz. The smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM.

Vivo X20 Plus UD sports a dual camera setup (12+5MP). On the front, it has 12-megapixel camera sensor. It also comes with 128GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 256Gb via microSD card.

The phone is available for pre-order for just N200,000 /KSH57,800 ($565)
