As expected, Google has finally unveiled the name of the next version of Android. It was simply known as “O” for the past couple of months when a few Developer Previews public betas were rolled out. However, it now officially has a full name.

I never believed it was going to be Oreo,.. Oh well, Lockheimer.. I must say I’m impressed. Although it didn’t end up being Android Ogbono πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

So the most rumored name actually turned out to be what Google chose to call the latest Android version. It’s the second time in the history of Android when there’s a commercial partnership involved – for version 4.4 KitKat Google teamed up with Nestle (which owns that brand), and this time around the search giant managed to get Mondelez on board the co-branding train.

Android 8.0 Oreo’s code have already been uploaded by Google engineers to the Android Open Source Project.

Software updates for the supported Nexus and Pixel devices are due to arrive “soon”.

According to Google, Here’s the list of phones that are certainly going to get the update before the year runs out.

1. Essential
2.General Mobile
3. HMD Global (Nokia)
4. Huawei
5.HTC
6.Kyocera
7.LG
8.Motorola
9.Samsung
10.Sharp
11.Sony.

Android Oreo comes with picture-in-picture support, notification dots, fully redesigned emoji (including over 60 new ones), Google Play Protect built-in, limits to background overuse of battery by apps, faster boot speeds, autofill system-wide, and support for Android Instant Apps.

Also BlackBerry has officially confirmed that the Keyone will be getting the Android Oreo update.

Now lets go back to the Naming Table… I’d bet the next version of Android is Android Peanut Butter. Android 9.0 ☺️.. Till then let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Tecno Phantom 9 is on its way 6

Just in case you still haven’t heard, Tecno Mobile posted a teaser of their next addition to the phantom series. This was posted on their Facebook page about last week Tuesday.

Tecno Phantom 9 is on its way 7

The phantom series is considered to be Tecno’s top innovations, their flagship lineup. Always incorporated with the best hardware & features from the Chinese company. The phantom 9 seems to be following the same sequence.

From the teaser, we supposedly got a few hints (not sure if this is the right word) of what to expect before it is finally revealed. And it has a couple of impressive specs I’d say.

Here are the following specifications from the teaser;

β€’ 6.4 inch Full view AMOLED display

β€’ Android 9 – the latest android version

β€’ In-display Fingerprint sensor

β€’ 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM

β€’ AI triple camera with dual front flashlight

β€’ 3500mAh battery

I think Tecno needs to be reminded of what a teaser mean, because at this point, you’ll have to wonder how this is a teaser. Permit me to called it a spoiler instead.

What else do they have in store? They literally listed every spec we care about in a smartphone today. Well, only time will tell.

It is still months before Apple unveil their next iPhone, but that has not done enough to avert the ton of leaks online.

The release for the iPhone 11 is set for September this year. Apart from the aesthetics and designs, not much is known about its specifications.

Although there have also been rumors of the iPhone 11 spec sheet, history has severally proven those type of speculations to be unreliable.

Here are the leaked photos. What do you think?
