Instagram To Start Blocking Offensive Comments

label

Trolls can turn a perfectly good day to a living hell on social media and social networks are finding ways to combat trolls effectively. The latest social network to add a new feature to fight trolls is Instagram. Instagram now lets users block offensive comments from their profile settings.

The new setting can be enabled by opening your account settings, and scrolling to 'Comment Settings.' If the feature has been rolled out to you, you will see a new 'Hide Offensive Comments' switch. The feature replaces the existing 'Hide Inappropriate Comments' switch, which used a basic blocklist.

The feature works on posts and live video, but currently the block feature is only available in English. This appears to be a server-side change, so I don't really know what what version of the Instagram app you'll need to enable it.
