I just spotted this while checking the comments on my status update. I think it’s a server side update so you don’t need to update your Facebook app to use it.
Here’s a screenshot –
I think it’s going to make the comment section more interactive.
What do you think about the update..

Xiaomi Is Planning To Launch A Foldable Smartphone – Video

Published
2 months agoon
January 8, 2019Xiaomi is definitely one brand we should keep an eye on this year. After the successful launch of their Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 They have been working round the clock to release amazing devices and the awesome part about it is that they even have plans of coming to Africa permanently this year.
The first video of Xiaomi’s foldable smartphone was posted by popular twitter leakster @evleaks earlier in January but has now be confirmed by Xiaomi’s president Lin Bin, who tested out the device on camera.
The smartphone can be folded both sides, quickly converting the tablet to a portable android smartphone. This means that, when both sides aren’t in use what is left looks like a wide, smartphone-like device complete with curved edges on either side.
This is definitely a nice move from Xiaomi. I wonder what this device would be called. We’ll have to wait till the Mobile World Conference holding in February to find out.
Xiaomi Foldable Phone Video
Take a look at the video below and tell me what you think.
Look what it is! The Xiaomi Foldable Phone! This video was posted by Lin Bin, president of Xiaomi . Confirms what we saw in the video @evleaks posted earlier! This actually looks amazing and XIoami is looking for a name for it: Mi Mix Flex, Mi Dual Flex, etc. Thoughts?#Xiaomi pic.twitter.com/F3y2jBkxrp

Nokia 9 PureView: Expected release date, specifications, price and more

Published

January 2, 2019By
Chrisom Obed
Nokia 9 PureView which many have been waiting for happens to be one of the most important smartphones coming our way in 2019. As leaks have suggested, Nokia 9 PureView will be feature with five cameras on the rear, making it the world’s first smartphone with penta-lens camera setup. Here are all rumours we’ve heard surrounding Nokia 9 PureView, including its potential release date, features, specifications, and more.
Nokia 9 PureView |
Nokia 9 PureView is not going to look exactly the company’s recently released lineup of devices, including the Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 8.1. Instead, the upcoming smartphone will be heavily inspired by the original Nokia 1020 but with a contemporary design.
However, the current design appears to be slightly different. While a penta-lens camera system continues to be there, one can also notice bezels above and below the screen. Meanwhile, the notch is missing from the recently leaked renders.
Nokia 9 PureView: Hardware, software
Nokia 9 PureView will be powered by the previous generation Snapdragon 845 processor and not the latest Snapdragon 855 chipset. We have also learned that the phone will come with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Nokia 9 PureView is also said to have an in-display fingerprint scanner, first for any Nokia-branded smartphone. The phone will run Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. Nokia 9 PureView is code-named “Olympic”.
Nokia 9 PureView: Release date, expected price
Although not confirmed, Nokia 9 PureView might get launched sometime later this month. According to Nokia Anew’s sources, HMD Global plans to launch its next-generation flagship in late January. That would put the launch date after CES 2019 and before MWC 2019.
There’s no word at what the device might cost. Suffice to say, it will cost more than the Nokia 8 Sirocco, which was launched in India at Rs 49,999( #258,000 ).Given the Nokia 9 PureView will be the world’s first smartphone with a penta-lens camera setup, expect it cost even more.
Nokia 9 PureView: Penta-lens camera setup
Perhaps the biggest highlight of the Nokia 9 PureView will be its camera.Nokia 9 PureView with seven holes on the back of the phone, five of which house five camera lenses. The other two are for the LED Flash and proximity sensor. Each of the seven circular cutouts, arranged in what looks like a circle, appears to have the same size. Clearly, this penta-lens camera setup will be based on Zeiss’ multi-lens patented zoom camera tech. At the moment, it’s not clear how the five-lenses camera setup works.

How Google Plans On Replacing Android With Fuschia OS Soon

Published
2 months agoon
December 28, 2018In this post, I’ll be explaining why Fuschia may actually replace Android
Kernels
Kernels are the core of any operating system, they provide the basic mechanisms around which the os can be built. A lot of the problems Android faces today is as a result of the fact it was built around the linux kernel whicj was not originally intended for it.
As a matter of fact, Android OS was originally meant for digital cameras so on it’s core it isn’t exactly specialized for what a smartphone should do
So what about Fuschia?
Fuschia is based on a completely different Kernel with 2 key benefits.
1. It is designed with the smart connected feature in mind
2. It’s more specific in its code and can be built on a wide range of devices
This kernel is called Zircon .
So what’s the benefit ?
The reason that Fuschia is powerful is that this kernel runs on completely everything from phones abd TVs to Fridges and traffic lights.
One OS for everything. As more devices enter people’s homes, this would mean seamless integration among devices.
Your music could switch to your speaker when you enter a room and continue in your car when you get in.
Also Fuschia would be built around the idea of voice commands. Less tapping , More talking.
Fuschia would also solve one of the major problems of Android which is Fragmentation.
Fragmentation
Fragmentation is the reason most Android phones don’t perform as well as their hardware is capable of.
This exists because Android is a bit of a mess. It has software, kernel and drivers all working together in a slightly different configuration on each device.
That’s why Google just can’t push an update to any device out there. These 3 aspects have to be decoupled manually.
Google has little control of how users experience Android on 95% of phones.
This is a problem because these OEMs don’t have an incentive to keep your device updated. They prefer you get a new device if you want to upgrade so they can make more money.
Fuschia is cleaner built with updates in mind. Fuschia would help Google regain control of the end user software experience.
Fuschia is also written on the Flutter software development kit which is important because this runs on Android too. This would make sure Android apps run on it. You don’t expect Google to start from scratch with the already vast library of apps and games available.
So the big question –
When will Fuschia Replace Android
Considering that brands always make the 10th version of their products seem like the peak of their current product line. Android 10 might be replaced by Fuschia OS.
If it’s not, then we should be looking at the next couple of years.

Unbelievable – Glo, 9mobile, NTEL Customers To Be Cut Off From Calling Other Networks

Published

December 24, 2018
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has granted disconnection approval to mobile network operators (MNOs) to disconnect owing colleagues over rise in interconnect debt and failure of the affected operators to pay.
NCC has asked MTN, Airtel and IHS to disconnect, on partial basis, services to Globacom, Ntel (MNOs) and interconnect exchange points including Breeze, Exchange, Solid, Medallion and Niconnx.
The implication of this development is that over 35 millions of subscribers would soon start to experience service disruptions.
While the affected operators have between the next 10 and 21 days, starting from 18th Dec to make amends or risk disconnections,
The Commission also said it has approved the Disconnection of Ntel and Globacom from the facilities of IHS in accordance with Section 103 of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 and the Guidelines on Procedure for Granting Approval to Disconnect Telecommunications Operators.
The Commission informed that 9Mobile, Smile and Swift are also to be disconnected from IHS facilities and ATC Wireless Infrastructure Limited.
“At the expiration of 10 days from the date of this notice, subscribers on the network of Ntel and Globacom will no longer be able to make calls to Airtel and MTN, but will be able to receive calls. Furthermore, Ntel and Globacom will be disconnected from the facilities of IHS.”

Gionee Mobile Is Officially Bankrupt As Company Files For Liquidation In Court

Published

December 24, 2018
The same day I made the post a Gionee Nigeria staff called me and made threats regarding the post saying they would take action against me for publishing such content which was quite laughable. I don’t take down content that is true to please any brand. I also believe he was quite oblivious of the current position of his employers so I would disregard the threat.
The news reaching me now is that the company has officially entered bankruptcy.
A court in Shenzhen has accepted the application for liquidation bankruptcy by Huaxing Bank. This may still turn into a company reorganization – Gionee hired restructuring consultants last week. Founder Liu Lirong thinks that the company can turn its fortunes around in 3-5 years.
However, Gionee owes a total of CNY 20.2 billion (around $3 billion) to 648 creditors. About half of the debt is to banks. Earlier this year the company failed to pay suppliers. Ad agencies haven’t been paid either.
The company’s money problem started when the founder and chairman Liu lost a CNY 1 billion bet in a casino.
Liu admitted in the interview that Gionee’s total debts amount to 17 billion yuan ($2,447,065,000), with 10 billion yuan($1,439,450,000) of this owed to banks, 5 billion yuan($719,725,000) to upstream suppliers and about 2 billion to advertising agencies.
If nothing spontaneous happens in 3 – 5 years and the executives can’t avoid gambling, this will be the end of Gionee Electronics and Smartphones.
