After Avengers: Infinity Wars, These Questions Must Be Answered!

After Avengers: Infinity Wars, These Questions Must Be Answered! 25

So,,you Dread it. Run from it. Avengers: Infinity War is finally here, bringing with it all sorts of questions about just what comes next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the wake of Thanos’ true arrival. Need some answers? Well, we have a few, as well as some extra questions about what happens now…

After Avengers: Infinity Wars, These Questions Must Be Answered! 26

So Who Is Actually Dead?

Right now? A whole lot of people. Infinity War’s casualty list is to an extreme unlike anything we’ve seen in the Marvel movieverse:
  • Lots of Xandarians
  • Heimdall
  • Loki
  • Gamora
  • The Black Order—Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight, Cull Obsidian, and Corvus Glaive
  • The Collector (probably)
  • Vision
  • Bucky
  • Groot
  • Black Panther
  • Drax
  • Mantis
  • Star-Lord
  • Spider-Man
  • Doctor Strange
  • Falcon
  • Scarlet Witch
  • Maria Hill
  • Nick Fury
  • Oh, and half of the entire universe’s population.
Damn, what a bloodbath.

Who Is Most Likely to Come Back?

Most of them, honestly. There simply isn’t a world where characters who have future movies in development—like Black Panther, Spider-Man, and the Guardians, don’t come back.
After Avengers: Infinity Wars, These Questions Must Be Answered! 27

Who Is Least Likely to Come Back?

However, those first few deaths before Thanos snaps his fingers feel pretty permanent—so Heimdall, Loki, and maybe even Gamora could permanently be toast. We have some thoughts about that last one, though…

Is Gamora Truly Dead?

Once Thanos snaps his fingers and kills half the universe, we see him in a yellow-tinged plane of existence—empty, save for the Mad Titan and the young Gamora, who asks Thanos if it was worth all the sacrifice. In the comics, the Soul stone (the one Gamora was sacrificed for by Thanos) houses a realm called Soul World, where part of a trapped victim’s soul is saved separately from the rest of their “real” self. Even if that real version dies, the soul in Soul World lives on—so if that does end up being the MCU’s take on Soul World, there’s a chance Gamora’s soul could be freed, and she could be restored to life either in Avengers 4 or even Guardians 3.
After Avengers: Infinity Wars, These Questions Must Be Answered! 28

How Could People Be Brought Back?

Well, aside from what we just said about Gamora, the people “dusted” by Thanos’ use of the Infinity Gauntlet can probably bought back through the use of the stones themselves—in particular the Time Stone, because, as Thanos did with Vision, it’s easy to use that and undo the moment of the snap itself. Given there have been rumors about time travel in Avengers 4, it wouldn’t be surprising if that’s how that horrifying casualty list gets trimmed a bit.

Why Is the Red Skull With the Soul Stone on Vormir?

If you cast your mind back to Captain America: The First Avenger, the Red Skull doesn’t actually die when he interacts with the Tesseract during his climactic fight with Cap—the stone opens up a portal to space and the Skull is beamed up into it. Now we know that trip dumped him on Vormir, and he’s spent the decades since guarding the path to another stone, the Soul stone, and working on his best Death cosplay.
After Avengers: Infinity Wars, These Questions Must Be Answered! 29

Is the Infinity Gauntlet Destroyed at the End?

It sure seems like it. After Thanos snaps his fingers, we see the gauntlet has become a crispy mess. His arm is kind of screwed up too. This sure makes it seem like the one vessel in the universe that could harness the power of all six stones at once is now toast, and it seems unlikely Eitri would make him another. If Thanos wants to use the stones again, it’s unlikely he’d be able to use them all together, and that could be just the opening our heroes need.

Where Was Thanos at the End of the Movie?

The final shots of Infinity War are of a victorious Thanos, emerging from a rickety homestead onto an idyllic-looking world and smiling at his accomplishment of a job well done. But we’re never actually told what that world is. It’s certainly not Titan, which, finger-snap or not, is still a wasteland. Could it be Zen-Whoberi, Gamora’s homeworld? Thanos used it as an example earlier in the movie that his harsh methods bore fruit, and given the grief he felt about having to kill her, him taking his rest on her homeworld would make some sense.
After Avengers: Infinity Wars, These Questions Must Be Answered! 30

Who Does Nick Fury Call at the End, and Why Only Now?

Just before he dies, Nick Fury presses some kind of beaten up intergalactic pager—and we see the message is sent to someone bearing the emblem of the Hala Star, the symbol of the Kree homeworld Hala in the comics. But it’s not just any star, given the red, blue, and gold motif of it: That’s the costume of Carol Danvers, the mighty Captain Marvel. How does Fury know her and how to contact her? We’ll find out in March 2019, when Captain Marvel is released in theaters. It’s set in the ‘90s, and we already know a young Nick Fury (as well as Agent Phil Coulson) will appear.
But maybe the real question is why, if Nick’s known Carol is out in space all these years, did it take Thanos for him to call her in. Why didn’t he summon her for the Chitauri invasion or Ultron? The real-world answer to that is “There wasn’t going to be a Captain Marvel movie yet,” but maybe we’ll get an in-universe answer in her solo film.

How Could Captain Marvel Win the Day in Avengers 4?

So, obviously, Captain Marvel is coming down to save the day in Avengers 4. We’ll see her movie in March, then she’ll return for the Infinity War follow-up in May. We’ll have much more on this soon, but the TL:DR version is that she’s ultra powerful and will likely not only be able to unite the stones but also punch… like, really hard. It also is sure to help that she’s from Earth, which is a nice rallying cry for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
After Avengers: Infinity Wars, These Questions Must Be Answered! 31

What’s up With Hawkeye and Ant-Man’s House Arrest?

Despite everything going on in Infinity War, the laws established in Captain America: Civil War, the Sokovia Accords, still went into effect, meaning that superheroes cannot legally operate unless officially sanctioned too. According to a prelude tie-in comic for the film, Hawkeye retired after being broken out of the Raft at the end of Civil War, and as mentioned in Infinity War, Scott Lang went back to San Francisco, kept under house arrest for his role in assisting Captain America to break the accords. Hopefully, they survived Thanos’ snap, because the world’s gonna need all the help it can get in Avengers 4

Where are Valkyrie and Korg?

At the end of Thor: Ragnarok, Valkyrie and Korg were on the ship with the rest of the Asgardians, including Thor, Hulk, Loki, and Heimdall. It’s the same ship Thanos ravages to get the Tesseract and where we witness countless, unmoving bodies. Valkyrie and Korg’s absence seems odd, but there’s a line in the movie that says half of the people escaped. So it seems likely that the two of them, but Valkyrie especially, led those people to safety before Thanos came on board. It seems quite likely that at least she’ll be in Avengers 4, when we’ll probably also get an answer as to where they actually spent their time during the events of Infinity War. That said, Valkyrie actress Tessa Thompson has an entirely different (albeit joking) theory about where she was.

How Did Thor Know to Go to Wakanda?

Stormbreaker, Thor’s new Thanos-killer of an ax, also has the sneaky power of being able to access some form of the Bifrost, allowing the God of Thunder to show up in dramatic style in Wakanda. But how can he do it if the Bifrost was destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok?
Well, the start of Infinity War proves that you don’t actually need the rainbow bridge to teleport. After all, one of Heimdall’s final acts is to use his own sword, Hofund—which, fun fact, was also forged by Nidavellir’s star—to teleport Hulk back to Earth. So Stormbreaker, as a weapon forged in Nidavellir, presumably has a similar ability. As for how Thor knew to go to Wakanda specifically, maybe he just asked Stormbreaker to take him to his friends, and the ax worked it out from there?

Why Didn’t We See the Destruction of Xandar?

At the beginning of the film, Thanos already has the Power stone, which we last saw at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy on Xandar for safekeeping. We hear that he’s already destroyed that place and gotten the stone. So it’s odd we don’t see it. Or is it? The movie is already long, dense, and expensive. Plus there’s not really anyone there audiences care about (sorry, Glenn Close). Of all the stones, that seems like the one you cut for all of those reasons, not to mention it probably would have been crazy expensive to show the destruction of another world. There’s also a chance it was filmed and it just got cut, but we haven’t heard anything like that yet.
After Avengers: Infinity Wars, These Questions Must Be Answered! 32

Why Won’t the Hulk Come Out?

Bruce Banner spends a lot of Infinity War as, well, not the big green guy. Mark Ruffalo and Kevin Feige are on record as saying Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Avengers 4 are sort of a three-movie arc for Hulk and a lot of his story here is wrapped up in him desperately trying to hulk out, but failing to do so. That means we’ll surely get a resolution in Avengers 4, but it’s also reasonable to assume that the Hulk is trying to show some dominance over Banner and may even be scared of what Thanos actually represents, in terms of sheer power. After all, he does get beat the hell up by Thanos pretty easily in the opening of the film. Insert your own performance anxiety jokes here, folks.

Did Shuri Finish Her Work on Vision?

Shuri plays a small but crucial role in the Avengers’ plan to save Vision and destroy the Mind Stone, but she gets interrupted during her surgery by Corvus Glaive, leading to Vision entering the fray in the climax of the movie… but then we don’t actually see Shuri again. Vision doesn’t return to her once dealing with Glaive, he stays out and fights. We don’t even know if she’s still alive after Thanos’ finger-snap. So it’s hard to say what Shuri ended up being able to accomplish before she was attacked—she clearly understood the stone and Vision’s connection to it more than anyone else did. Could she have made some other modifications knowing she wouldn’t be able to remove it in time? Does she have Vision 2.0 on some Wakandan hard drive? Time will tell…
After Avengers: Infinity Wars, These Questions Must Be Answered! 33

Why Did Doctor Strange Give the Time Stone to Thanos?

This is explained in the film but it’s not spelled out super clearly. Basically, we saw Strange visit millions of possible futures and find out that there’s only onechance in those millions that Thanos loses. He then tells Tony that giving Thanos the stone was “the only way,” meaning, in that one possible future where the Avengers win, Thanos had to complete the Gauntlet and kill half the universe. So why fight it when you know that’s the best thing for you?

Are Tony and Nebula Stranded on Titan?

The end of this movie is grim enough, but when you think about it, you realize that Tony Stark and Nebula are left all alone on Titan, after Thanos leaves and then literally everyone else with them is turned to ash. Nebula’s little pod got wrecked when she came crashing in to attack Thanos, and so did Ebony Maw’s ring-ship, so that’s not a way off the world. So… how on Earth (well, on Titan) could they possibly make their ways back?
The actual answer is most likely going to be that the Guardian’s ship is on the planet. After all, how did Drax, Mantis, and Star-Lord get there? Nebula would know how to fly it, at least. Or maybe Wong, detecting the loss of the Time Stone, opens up a portal there?

Did Tony Draw Thanos’ Blood on Purpose?

During the big fight on Titan, Tony is using everything he’s got packed into that fancy new suit of his to gain the upper hand. He never causes much of a dent. That is, until he draws blood. To which Thanos replies, “All that for a drop of blood?” It sounds too important to be a throwaway line and something tells us, yeah, Tony did do all of that for a drop of the Mad Titan’s blood. Will it serve as part of his eventual destruction? We’ll see…
After Avengers: Infinity Wars, These Questions Must Be Answered! 34

Why Was Arrested Development Mentioned in the End Credits?

As you sat waiting to see the final end credit scene, one particular credit may have stood out. The Fox/Netflix sitcom Arrested Development was given a quick tip of the cap. Odd? Not so much. Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo worked on that television show and have put a few winks in previous films (the Bluth stair car is at the airport in Civil War, for example) and Infinity War is no exception. When Thanos is on Knowhere and we glimpse a version of the Collector’s items, a certain blue man in jean shorts can quickly be glimpsed in the background. That’s Dr. Tobias Fünke, played by David Cross in the show, but not in the movie. Just another thing to look out for when you see Infinity War again.

What’s the Title of Avengers 4 and What’s Going to Happen?

We’ll find out the title in the coming months, and see the conclusion of this story on May 3 (or possibly April 26, after the success of Infinity War’s slightly earlier opening), 2019.

Is Avengers Infinity Wars Set To Hit A New Box-Office Record?

Is Avengers Infinity Wars Set To Hit A New Box-Office Record? 35
Disney’s latest alarmingly star-packed Avengers entry is going to set another box-office record for its opening weekend, eclipsing Star Wars: The Force Awakens, according to variety
The film is set to bring in around $250 million in its debut domestically, which would put it just ahead of the debut for the first star Wars film in more than a decade. The Force Awakens opening weekend brought in $247.9 million domestically, according to Box Office Mojo, which now also estimates that Infinity War will bring in around $250 million in addition to $380 million internationally.
Infinity War hit $105.9 million in its opening day on Friday,  according to Box Office Mojo, , which set it at a target just narrowly behind The Force Awakens at the time. But it now appears that stuffing a film to the brim with superheroes that the company has spent nearly a decade fleshing out with individual movies has become a superb strategy and continues to chug along, making  Disney’s $4 billion acquisition of the studio look like one of its best strategic moves in the modern era.
“We’ve been a company that has emphasized and is evident in how we have invested our capital the value of high-quality branded entertainment,”  CEO Bob Iger said at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference back in February. “And the acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm Star Wars, obviously, were a reflection of that core strategy. This gives us a larger portfolio of high-quality branded content. When you think about FX, when you think about National Geographic, when you think about a number of the franchises that Fox has created, including their Marvel franchises and Avatar and other product, we believe that this fits beautifully into the strategy to continue to invest in entertainment, particularly in a world that seems to be growing in terms of its appetite to consume entertainment.”
The next closest films for a debut performance after The Force Awakens are The Last Jedi(unsurprisingly) at around $220 million, followed by Jurassic World at around $209 million, and then the first Avengers film at $207.4 million. Essentially, Disney is cleaning up at the box office and setting records thanks to a number of smart acquisitions —  it bought Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion in 2012.
Disney still has yet another massive film coming out before the second quarter even ends, with Solo: A Star Wars Story set to come out next month. Marvel’s Black Panther brought in an estimated $688 million domestically, according to Box Office Mojo.

My Experience Buying A Smartphone In Aba

My Experience Buying A Smartphone In Aba 36

My Experience Buying A Smartphone In Aba 37

Some days ago,  I decided to get a new phone and I had to choose between buying from Jumia or buying from a shop, I chose the latter as it was going to be more fun. (This post was originally posted in 2016)

As a Techie, I’d say buying things from Aba is fun and interesting but you’ll have to be really smart. I also had to choose between buying in the Market (Ariaria) or going into the main town. I didn’t want a too expensive phone so I placed my budget between 30-40k.

I ended up taking a bus to St Michael’s Road, Aba. I  walked around the shops, bargaining and I noticed something quite common among the people selling the smartphones.

They always try to make you feel like an inferior device is good.  My advice is ” no matter what don’t listen to them” . Buy what you want and leave.

Something really funny happened at the last shop I went to :

I initially requested for a phone with a battery capacity of 3000maH and above between 30-40k. They brought out an Infinix Note 2. Looking at the device,  I was really happy but always remember – you don’t judge a book by it’s cover. I opened the back of the phone and checked the battery, 4040maH. (quite impressive)

I turned on the phone. The boot transition wasn’t too smooth, it seemed like a fake Infinix phone but I decided to investigate thoroughly before concluding.

After the phone finished booting, I opened the app drawer and went through the system apps. The icons looked bigger and lacked quality, unlike the ones in most Infinix phones.I spotted something strange again –  Tecno’s Boom Player installed on an Infinix Phone. I was shocked. (Chai).

The next discovery gave me a massive blow. I checked the phone’s RAM Capacity and to my greatest surprise it was just 218MB while on the  pack it was 2GB. I was dumbfounded. At that moment, I realized that if I didn’t know anything about smartphones, I would have just bought a fake phone for about 36k and later regret it.(In this recession,  it’s unfair nah).

The same fake infinix device I dropped, an unsuspecting lady, unaware of my discovery picked it up and started asking about the price. I shook my head in pity. I always stay out of trouble so i couldn’t tell her she was about to buy a fake phone in front of the shop owner.

I decided to overlook the battery capacity and get another phone. I looked around the shop and spotted a TECNO W4 with a 2500maH battery, I went through the phone and everything was okay. I paid for it and left. (I  bought the phone for N32,000). On my way out of the shop a guy met me and asked if I wanted to install apps on the phone so I decided to play along.

I asked how much to install WhatsApp and Facebook. The guy told me N500.  I laughed and told him not to worry, maybe next time. If only he knew what I was saying in my mind. (hehehe.. You don’t know who you’re talking to.)

I just took a bus home.

That was quite an adventure . If you’re not smart you may end up with a fake phone.

Lesson –  If you’re not good in detecting good smartphones  always go with someone who knows about it. All that glitters is not Gold.

Readers Deluxe : Fast And Furious 8 : Review

Readers Deluxe : Fast And Furious 8 : Review 38
In the spirit of Easter, I’m gonna be dropping a review of the latest movie to drop this Easter, one of my personal favorites – Fast and Furious. Here’s a review culled from
The Hindustan Times Website
.. Enjoy –

It is in times like these that you mourn Han’s death extra hard. The sight of him, that stone cold stare, those smirky shrugs, thoroughly unconcerned by the unbelievable mayhem playing out around him, probably slipping single chips into his mouth… You’ll miss that here – dare I say, more than you’ll miss Brian.
Especially when demi god Vin Diesel decides to race a nuclear-armed submarine. But more on that later.

Before that, he meets a mysterious cyber terrorist called Cypher, who, and there’s no better way to put this, hacks into his brain, and forces him to turn his back on the only code he lives by – family (say it in Vin Diesel’s gravelly monotone for maximum impact).

Of course, there’s a reason why Dominic Toretto goes rogue. There always is. Because without it, we’d have no movie would we? And when that reason is revealed, by God it will put you in a strange mood.

Readers Deluxe : Fast And Furious 8 : Review 40
For the longest time, the Fast and Furious series has been an exercise in testing mankind’s patience for cartoonish action – like a multi-billion-dollar lab experiment gone way out of hand. On literally any other occasion, the sight of million-dollar cars parachuting down from the sky, or chasing down a cargo plane down a 45 km runway, OR Vin Diesel soaring across the sky Superman-like, would’ve been one outlandish move too many. We were there right with them till they’d restricted themselves to dragging 3-tonne bank vaults across Rio de Janeiro, but not anymore, no.

And then, there’s the issue of the almost Inception-like levels of complexity to the chronology of the series. As we stand, this is how it goes: 1, 2 – a short film with a deceptive poster retroactively written, produced, and co-directed by our boy Vin Diesel (this is not a lie. Go look it up) – 4, 5, 6, 3, 7 and now, 8.

And as if all this – the insane timeline, the devil-may-care attitude to the action, the increasingly uncomfortable will they/won’t they dynamic playing out between The Rock and Vin Diesel – wasn’t enough, there’s also the fact that the characters’ personalities aren’t set in stone, which is so weird. Tyrese used to scowl a lot and used to punctuate his sentences with the word ‘bruh’.

He is now the comic relief, and if memory serves, has stopped saying ‘bruh’ completely. Ludacris, the man, the rapper, despite showing no signs of being adept at anything other than chilling on lounge chairs in his first appearance, was made a ‘computers expert’ in the later movies.

Oh, and also, they brought Letty back from the dead, which, in hindsight, too a shocking plot development to simply shrug off like we all did.
But I digress. Let’s come back to the point. Vin Diesel was racing a nuclear-armed submarine. And we were missing Han’s classic reaction shot, that wry smile on his face, and a bag of chips in his hands.

Fast and Furious 8, or The Fate of the Furious if we were to call it by its more inventive title, is not as deliriously over-the-top as 5, it isn’t as emotional as 7, and it isn’t as all around awesome as Tokyo Drift (which is, unconventionally, my favourite of the bunch). But none of this matters. It is, however, the strangest, darkest, and the most deviant film in the series.

But even if we were to put all the eccentricities of the plot aside for a moment, because being a fan of this franchise, someone who has been there right from the beginning, I realise that what really draws us to these movies is the action. It used to be the characters too, once upon a time, but now, sadly, it’s just the action. But director F Gary Gray, who has made some fantastic films in the past (The Italian Job, Straight Outta Compton to name a couple), seems to be too bogged down by the behemoth this series has become. His action set-pieces (that tundra-set show stopper included) don’t hold a candle to anything Justin Lin did in his four movies. Or even James Wan in Furious 7.

There’s no authorship to this film. It could have been directed by any of the series’ previous filmmakers and no one would have noticed.
For a franchise whose sole purpose of being hinges on the age old mantra ‘go big or go home’, Fast and Furious 8 sure does follow the rulebook. But sadly, the fatigue is setting in. A couple of films ago – even three films ago – you’d never have believed it.

The series had just witnessed a comeback unlike any other. In that moment, to quote a teen novel of all things, we were all infinite. Dom was in love. The Rock was breaking concrete by stomping on it real hard. Tyrese was yelling. Women were being objectified…
But now, after we’ve seen parachuting cars and flying Vin Diesels, what’s a nuclear missile here and there?
