How To Make Your Android Phone Last Longer

How To Make Your Android Phone Last Longer 1
A lot of people may not want to upgrade every year to another Android device. We can’t blame them since smartphones cost almost a lot to start with. It also makes sense to protect the investment for as long as possible.

Moreover, technology outdates itself quickly and can be easily
replaced. The good news is, even with constant technology
upgrades, there are ways you can save your hard earned
money to extend the longevity and durability in which you
keep your device.

Here are some tips that can help your device stay longer and
be durable to avoid replacing or repairing it.

1. Do not upgrade the software immediately

This is a good rule preferably for the average smartphone
users. Upgrading it seems like a good thing, but your
handset’s performance can have a negative effect. Upgrading
to a higher version of Android in an old device start hanging.
If you insist, it is a good idea to do a proper research before
upgrading your smartphone so that you can know what you
are in for.

2. Do a hard reset
Sometimes you may not realize it but your smartphone may
slow down over time as we continuously take photos and
videos, download applications, transfer music and anything
else that makes your device retain data. You can remedy this
by cleaning up the affected areas of your device, but at times
it is just best to transfer all files and applications to a flash
drive or a PC and start afresh.

3. Accessorize
It is uncommon to desire a new device because the current
one has a cosmetic eyesore problem. However, there ae lots
of cheap accessories that can help your device look good in
case they look like they have had a rough life.
There also plenty of full coverage cases like the OtterBox that
give your device a plastic screen and a strong case. If you
want something that is less bulky, consider tempered glass
screen covers and skins. There are many options to choose
from.

Make Use of the Power Saving Mode

Power saving modes tend to increase your smartphone’s
longevity. All phones have their own power saving modes
that save your battery’s juice and extend the usable times.
However, these modes have drawbacks too. For example, the
decrease the rate at which your phone’s display is drawn and
they also slow the processor’s speed.
There is a place for the power saving modes. When you are
low on battery and your devices longevity is far more vital
than performance. Most smartphones have a settings of
automatically activating the power saving modes at a certain
point. You don’t have to leave these power saving modes on
at all time.

5. Don’t overcharge

If you leave your device to charge overnight, it is likely to
leave it charging way past the charging point. While there
some chargers designed to stop charging once the battery is
full, it is recommended that you disconnect your smartphone
from the charge once it is 100 percent full. Overcharging
overheats the battery and this reduces both the phone’s
lifetime and the battery’s capacity.
