Getting an affordable smartphone with great specifications can be a very difficult task with all the different smartphones so that’s why I decided to put up this post about the top 5 cheap android phones in Nigeria below N70,000 so you can have a little glimpse of what you can get for that amount.
Cheap Android Phones In Nigeria Below N70K (January 2019)
1. Redmi Note 7
Xiaomi just launched the Redmi Note 7 in the entry-level to mid-range segment with incredible specifications and believe me this phone is down right affordable. If you follow up this blog you should know what the phone comes with, nevertheless I’ll still go into a little bit of what this device holds
The Redmi Note 7 ships with a large 6.3-inch Full HD Display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is a powerful Snapdragon 660 coupled with a 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, expandable via micro SD card. There’s also a variant with 64GB and 6GB RAM.
The main selling point of this device is the camera. It comes with a massive 48MP Camera, at the moment, the Redmi Note 7 has no rivals in its price range. For the selfie camera you have a 13MP Camera.
Finally, keeping the smartphone on is a massive 4000mAh capacity battery, along with an USB Type-C port. It also supports QuickCharge 4.0. This phone is definitely one of the cheap android phones in Nigeria.
(if the price on the link is too high, check back in a few weeks)
Finally, The UMIDIGI F1 Android smartphones comes with a very impressive 6.3-inch Full HD+ and 19.5:9 display and is powered by the powerful MediaTek Helio P60 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage (which can be expanded via microSD).
The smartphone ships with two rear cameras of 16MP and 8MP resolution, while at the front we have a 16MP camera for taking amazing selfies
Also, In the battery department the UMIDIGI F1 comes with a massive 5150mAh battery, a USB Type-C port and also supports an incredible amount of 4G LTE networks which means it can work pretty much anywhere around the world.
A couple of months ago Xiaomi Global Spokesman Donovan Sung made a post about their new store that launched in Spain and also asked for suggestions on where they should launch their next store and here’s what I said.
This means the expansion of Xiaomi had been on the cards for a while.
If you have been following up Xiaomi for a while, you would know that they tend to compete on the foreign market rather than their home country China due to the congestion.
Now, the company is looking to take things to the next level and come to Africa. On Sunday, Xiaomi announced the establishment of their African Regional Department and Wang Lingming (Xiaomi’s VP) was appointed as the manager of the department.
At the moment, in Africa we have over 1.2 billion people but the smartphone usage isn’t really too high and many people still use feature phones and because of this some phone brands don’t really do well in Africa. At the moment Transsision Holdings rules the African smartphone market with its three brands – itel, TECNO, and Infinix ranking at the very top in Africa in terms of market share.
In 2019, the Africa will become one of Xiaomi’s main pioneers in their international business, and their biggest rival here is Transsision Holdings.
What I Think About Xiaomi Coming To Africa
Xiaomi has everything it takes to succeed in Africa especially if it starts off with its recently established Redmi Brand. Redmi already have one of the core features that is missing in all the Transission brands – high quality specs at a low price. You can see how successful the Redmi Note 7 has been so far and we can guess how much the price would have been if it was a Transission product.
Transsision basically takes advantage of the mid-range and low-end smartphone market which is a strong competitive ground for Xiaomi. I believe this would also boost competition among the two brands.
Although It’s very sad to see the Operating system go out of fashion, there’s nothing we can do about it. Microsoft has already confirmed that it is officially killing off support for the OS. I actually knew this would happen at some point but I didn’t know it would be this soon.
So if you’re still using a Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile phone, you have less than a year to upgrade to something else preferably an Android Phone.
Windows 10 Mobile Is Dead
Microsoft has already published a support page detailing Windows 10 Mobile’s upcoming End of Support.
According to the company, Windows 10 Mobile users are no longer eligible to receive updates, including security updates, from December 10, 2019. Devices that are running Windows 10 Mobile version 1703 will no longer receive support even earlier — on June 11th, 2019.
So immediately it gets to the end of support date some of the features on the device will slowly stop working and Microsoft won’t do anything about it. Automatic or manual device backups will end on March 10, 2020.
With this notice, Microsoft just hit the final nail on the coffin of it’s mobile operating system
Alternative Option For Windows 10 Mobile
“Microsoft’s mission statement to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more, compels us to support our Mobile apps on those platforms and devices,” the company said, recommending users to move to an Android or iOS device.
